Official Website Of TheHumanTim! (Nerdcore Music ...ROCKS!)
UPDATE 6/6/14 -
I've been on a little break the last couple months... but I'm back! I've already done Star Wars and Jurassic Park so the next logical John Williams tune to tackle was Indiana Jones! HERE IT IS! The original three movies are some of my favorites of all time. (Lets not talk about Crystal Skull, ok?) Hope you guys enjoy my take on some of the music from Raiders! This is my longest cover to date. I hope you'll watch the whole thing and let me know what you think!
If you like it, and want to buy the MP3, you can pick it up for a buck on my LOUDR PAGE.
I'm already thinking about the next tune, hopefully I can knock another one out by the end of the month.
Until then, Geekers!
UPDATE 3/29/14 -
You may have seen my recent posts with links to buy my tunes. I wanted to write a post explaining how selling my cover tunes works. As most of you know, I've previously declined to offer my covers for sale due to a bunch of copyright hoops that artists need to jump through in order to legally sell covers.
Well, recently, I found a service online called Loudr that handles copyright clearance and digital distribution for cover songs, which means that I can sell my cover tunes legally and without the hassle of having to keep all the accounting documentation for the royalty rights myself. This is pretty flippin' sweet. So... I've been uploading the tunes to this service and they've started getting cleared for sale. I'm offering them for $1 per song. ("Album" collections work out to the same price per song, you just get them as a collection.)
The revenue breakdown works like this:
Loudr gets a cut of 15% per tune ($0.15 per $1 sale,) then the publishing company(s) for the original composition(s) covered in the song get their royalty cut, typically about $0.09 per composition. So if a tune is a cover of just one song, I'd net about $0.75 per $1 sale. If my tune contains multiple composition covers (my Star Wars medley for example has 5 different tunes in it) that means an additional $0.09 per composition. That means my take is less. I make about $0.25 on my Star Wars medley after the royalty cuts. After all this, PayPal takes a small percentage out as a transaction fee when Loudr sends my cut to me. Considering that it usually takes me around 10-12 hours to record and mix the audio and cut the video for a tune, I'm definitely not doin' this for the money, hahaha.
The cool thing about the Loudr service is that people can pay what they want on top of the set minimum price. So even though I've listed the tunes at $1, people can toss in more as a show of support to the artist. This extra contribution goes completely to the artist with no cut taken by Loudr or the rights-holders.
Now, I'm not gonna be quitting my full-time day job anytime soon to live off of cover tune sales, lol, but its a cool way to make a few bucks. I've decided that any money that I get from selling my music is going to be deposited directly into TheHumanBaby's CHET 529 college savings plan. So, if you guys feel like supporting my music, that's what you'll be funding. :)
Right now, I've got 3 "album" collections and a few "singles" available on Loudr. ALL of my cover tunes are in the queue and are being processed now so they all should be available as singles very soon. I'm also looking into getting everything put on iTunes and GooglePlay. Those services take a much bigger cut than Loudr, on top of the publisher royalties, so if possible, I'd prefer you guys buy my music through Loudr. Either way I hope you'll check em out.
Thanks for being awesome and for readin' through this "War and Peace" length post, love ya all!

UPDATE 2/6/14 - If you geekers would like to buy the MP3 of my new Zelda tune (or some of my other covers,) check out my LOUDR.FM PAGE.
Loudr legally licences cover songs and clears all copyright permissions with the rights-holders so that musicians can legally sell their cover tunes! This is awesome! A portion of each sale goes to the original composers.
They handle checkout through paypal, so its super-easy. If you feel like paying more as a show of love to the artist, you have the option to donate additionally on top of the minimum.
I've also got a complete "album" of my older video game tunes on the site, and my other cover tunes are going through the rights clearing process now. If you've been wishing you had a way to legally get my tunes onto your iPod, here's your chance.
All of the proceeds from my music are going right into TheHumanBaby's college fund, so thanks for your support!
UPDATE 2/5/14 - Hi Geekers! Bigtime update today. Its my first tune of 2014 and I wanted to start the year with something special.
A while back I did a cover of the Song Of Time / Song Of Storms from The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. (Check it out HERE.)
Ever since then I knew I wanted to do more Zelda tunes. Ocarina Of Time might just be my favorite game of all time and Koji Kondo's music is amazing. Well, the last couple months I've been playing the Great Fairy Fountain Theme and Zelda's Lullaby on my acoustic at night when my wife and I get the baby ready for sleep. I knew I had to give them the ROCKS treatment.
So here it is. "ZELDA ...ROCKS!" part 2. Enjoy and please share it if you like it!
UPDATE 12/24/13 - Here's my last video of the year! A chill classical-style acoustic guitar rendition of "White Christmas." Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!
